Event is wrapping up. Lots of camps are striking and exiting. WordPress or my bandwidth is limiting the pictures I can upload. Let’s see what we can do….

Doriandra and Erik playing the Center Camp stage.

Alien Siege Machine burned last night, but before it did:

I caught Big B taking in the sunset from on top.

Temple of Grace

I visited the Temple today. Always deeply moving and reverential. There is a profound silence out there except for weeping and on this occasion a singer, a Capella. Mystical. Powerful.

GBA reunion

Found camp of dear friends Dorcas and kitty Karen, Spank Bank, where the infrastructure is set up to administer spankings in many ways with many different devices (no photos available)

Playa Gift

This poem by Ranier Maria Rilke

Spirit speaks to each of us as she makes us
Then walks us quietly out of the night.

These are the words we hear:

You, sent out beyond your recall,
Go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.

Flare up like flame
And make big shadows I can move in.

Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don’t let yourselves lose me.

All typed out on a scroll of parchment. Rolled up and tied with golden thread

Fuller Expression of the Event

So much activity. Down-time does not process it all. The fatality here on playa was hard, very hard on some. We provide Crisis Intervention Teams for occasions like this. Needed by many. Poor CIT members worked days without sleep.

Man burns tomorrow. I shot him from deep playa with perfect light and perfect backdrop.

Embrace burned this morning. A first! Morning Burn.

Touring the Art

I went on the mobile art tour today, riding in an enormous art car shaped like a VW bus. We heard about various art pieces from a curator, who built it and factoids about a few of the many, many installations.

Camp Sacred Sandy Pigeon Coop

At 7:00 in the morning so curtains drawn and no one is up yet. As the day/sun progresses, the facade goes into the shade. I made a special point of going by to get an early morning shot.

Karouch is already thinking of what art he can contribute next year to the magnificent gallery that is the playa. I believe they are having a great time.

Magnificent structure. One of the art installations equally stunning by day and night thanks to the elaborate lighting. The climb up, very steep and long. The view from up there, well, have a look:
